Tuka

Sydney based hip hop artist Tuka has produced a staggering volume of work over the past decade both in his capacity as one third of acclaimed hip hop outfit Thundamentals and as a solo artist.

Tuka released his debut solo album “Will Rap for Tuka” in 2009, showing a breadth of stylistic, lyrical and production techniques that marked a clear departure from his work with Thundas and was furthered on his second solo effort 2012’s “Feedback Loop” which featured the celebrated singles “Just to Feel Wanted” and “Die A Happy Man”. Fast forward to 2015 and Tuka’s third solo album “Life Death Time Eternal” heralds the coming of age of a truly unique voice in Australian hip hop – a deeply personal and heavily themed record featuring “Nirvana”, “Tattoo”, “My Star” – bold, melodic and unafraid to colour outside of the lines.

Concurrently, Thundamentals released their self titled EP in 2009, followed by their debut album “Sleeping on Your Style” in 2010 and second album “Forevolution” in 2011 which featured the singles “Paint The Town Red” and “How You Been”. A 2012 “Like A Version” remake of Matt Corby’s “Brother” marked a significant turning point for the group and saw their first entry into Triple J’s Hottest 100 pole. Their third album “So We Can Remember” was released in 2014 and was the only release of the year to be nominated for an ARIA Award, AIR Award, J Award, FBi SMAC Award and The Australian Music Prize. Debuting at #1 on the Digital, Independent, Australian and Urban Charts and #3 on the Album ARIA Charts, SWCR featured the massive  singles “Smiles Don’t Lie”, “Something I Said”, “Quit Your Job”, “Got Love” and “Missing You”.
